It took some time but my friend Joe finally admitted he created the entire situation. He told me he really felt he could be comfortable with this woman and felt she’d eventually change her style of expression. He also admitted that believing such a notion was naïve. As with virtually all challenges, he ended up both smarter and wiser. So it goes. Here’s to your continued well being and peace.
Jane & Joe
Perhaps it was a lack of experience that made him think she would eventually change. Or maybe he thought he would one day become indifferent or even immune to her problematic (to Joe) behavior. But both notions are folly at best. As we’ve mentioned, people are as they are and it’s not for us to try and change them unless they ask us for help. And that’s very unlikely,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], especially when they don't view a behavior as a problem.
Now, if you’ve had any experience with relationships or life in general you’re probably aware that it’s highly unlikely you or me or the man in the moon is going to change anyone’s behavior to suit us. It just doesn’t happen. And even if Jane had been open to changing Joe didn’t mention that what she was doing even bothered him. So as you can see, there was a complete breakdown in communication on Joe’s part right from the beginning. Jane, on the other hand was actually a very open communicator.
If you’re uncomfortable with something that’s causing you anger or frustration you need to evaluate it to determine if it can be fixed. If you feel it can,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], get on with it. If it can’t, cut the connection and move on.
I said Joe chose to become despondent. I could just as easily say he chose the whole unpleasant situation when he ignored his gut feelings and stayed with a relationship that at best was frustrating to him, and in time produced shocking displays of anger. Angry outbursts often come from frustration. And almost without fail we, yes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you and I, consciously enter into situations where frustration is going to be the natural result. We don’t like to admit this but it’s true. And when it comes to love relationships, we’re oh so reluctant to let go because everything else seems fine.
The Honeymoon Period
Many people refer to the first few months of a relationship as the “honeymoon” period. This is the time when most folks are on their best behavior as they get to know each other. As Jane and Joe’s honeymoon period progressed to everyday life Jane’s quirkiness began to bother Joe more, though he kept quiet about it at first hoping it would somehow resolve on its own.
As time went on Joe became increasingly intolerant of Jane speaking her mind and with each perceived “infraction” Joe expressed his feelings in loud forceful outbursts,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], some of which were rather ugly. It wasn’t long before they broke up,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which left Joe hurt and even angrier. And rather than learn a lesson from the experience he chose to drift into a funk that lasted for several years. Notice I said he “chose” to become despondent. Let’s look at this situation for what it really is. Each of us makes choices that shape our lives.
Nip It In The Bud
We Choose Our Lives
A while back he became involved with a woman he wanted to marry. Let’s call her Jane. They both fell hard for each other early on in their relationship. He told me she was a great woman but there were a couple of things about her personality that bothered him. These quirky things aren’t really relevant to our discussion but they were very relevant to how this relationship played out,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. For our purposes let’s just say that Jane was prone to spontaneously speaking her mind.
Happy Ending
One day Jane and Joe were out and Jane said something that really rubbed Joe the wrong way. My guess is that whatever she said wasn’t actually the real problem, it was that Joe had been building up frustration over Jane’s natural way of communicating. She had dozens, if not hundreds of people in her life who didn’t give a second thought to her communication style. But for Joe it was an issue and he lost his temper on this particular day. And that was the beginning of the end.
Sudden Outburst Time
Unacceptable Behavior
Before we talk about eliminating the problem let’s look at how anger comes about as an emotion in the first place. We’ll use an example from real life,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. I have a close friend I’ve known since grammar school. We’ll call him Joe,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Joe was always affable and easygoing as a kid and teen and even well into adulthood. And then a change came over him,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
But I also know from personal experience (we all know to one degree or another) that there is far more pain and misery in dragging out something that has proven not to work than in breaking the tie and moving on. And this isn’t just about romantic relationships, it can just as easily be about business,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], employment or any other human endeavor.
We’ve become a society of free expression. These days people are encouraged to open up and just let their feelings flow. Of course, there are plenty of acceptable ways to do this as well as some very unacceptable methods of expression. In most cases anger is one method that causes significant distress for all involved. Under certain controlled conditions it’s actually good to let go of feelings of anger. But in our day-to-day interactions with others outbursts of anger are certain to make things uncomfortable and sometimes worse.
When Joe chose to stay with Jane despite what he felt about her quirky and bothersome habits he knew he was doing the right thing for the wrong reason. He wanted love and eventual marriage but he didn’t want to admit that Jane wasn’t the woman for him. It’s true,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], he went forward in a doomed relationship hoping for the best.
Since we create our world,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], we are always responsible for the results. Anger outbursts are unacceptable. Understanding the cause of anger is our first responsibility and step in the direction of relief. What follows is a true self assessment to figure out what to do. Removing the cause is the only sensible way to go. And in a relationship that usually means it's time to part company. The entire process might require the help of an expert.
And although it’s natural to express some anger regardless of the reason for it, it’s up to you or me or whoever to do his or her best to rectify the situation. If that doesn’t work it’s time to move on. And just so you know, I’m not some cold, calculated robot without feelings who finds it easy to nuke another person at the drop of a hat. I know that what I’m saying might sound impersonal and cutting ties and moving on can be the cause for a great deal of pain.
But anger is NOT an acceptable way to deal with frustration or any other emotion. You might say, what about jealousy? Nope. Jealousy is another emotion where all the responsibility for the emotion comes back to us. There are two reasons for jealousy. The main one is our own insecurity. The other is that the individual in question is actually breaking promises or stepping out.

Today, there is a variety of treatment options used. To help eliminate this phobia, professionals recommend certain hypnosis techniques that are proven effective in alleviating stress and phobias.

Cowering in bed and feeling frightened is not the way a phobia sufferer should live. Using hypnosis and NLP techniques, virtually everyone can vanquish this serious phobia.

National Tax Service director Son Yeong-lae,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], speaking before the National Assembly's Finance and Economy Committee,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], acted as if he knew nothing of the alleged tax evasion and other things former NTS director Ahn Jung-nam is suspected of,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and his behavior was nothing sort of an irresponsible negligence of duty. The abnormal circumstances surrounding Ahn's accumulation of wealth has been the object of suspicion for some time now,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and so to have the current NTS director say "we don't know anything,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and feel frustrated"in an avoidance of the question at hand is simply pathetic. You have to wonder why it is the NTS,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as much as it delves into the doings of everyone else,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], is giving the appearance that it is going out of its way to protect Ahn Jung-nam. Maybe Son is just being courteous to his predecessor,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but if it keeps up,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], they will be unable to evade the rage of the people at the old habits of clique-ism among those in power.
You forget to laugh when you hear Son's reasons for not taking action, since he says that "we can't investigate everything that gets suggested by the press." 0How on earth could someone like Ahn,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], who served as a civil servant for around thirty years, collect land in Seoul's Gangnam area close to W50 billion in value without resorting to abnormal and illegal means? If that isn't reason for suspicion, what is? Aren't investigations done because there is ample reason for suspicion? And isn't that what the NTS is there for in the first place? Anyone who looks at what is known already will agree that if the NTS is not going to investigate allegations Ahn's portfolio is based on corruption, it is then in no position to talk about "just taxation." Son's next excuse is that the "limitations on taxation in this instance would have expired already, so even if we were to investigate there would be no benefit." Is this not something that should be decided after an investigation, after it is clear whether there are real legal accusations to be made? Giving someone immunity before you even investigate you wonder whether he just doesn't get the order of things or if he is doing it on purpose.
Among other suspicions,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Ahn is accused of avoiding gift taxes in the process of registering some of that property in the names of his younger brother and son-in-law in 1995 and 1996. At first Son said, "we can't tell whether it was a gift or a sale," but then realized he had to at least say that he would "look into whether it was a gift or not." The taxes involved in this particular area of suspicion have not run out their statute of limitations, and it is the kind of thing the NTS could figure out in no time at all if it wants to. There is no reason for hesitation.
It is excruciatingly pathetic that the very same man who spoke of "justice in taxation" is suspected of speculative real estate investments and tax evasion. And it is utterly shameless for the likes of him to have led the charge in the tax investigation operation into the media. What is even sadder is the way the prestige of a pubic agency such as the NTS is ruined because of him. If only to restore its honor, the NTS should show determination and get to the bottom of the allegations surrounding Ahn Jung-nam.

NLP offers “technology” for therapists to deliberately internally “install” various strategies and processes, allowing you the required range of choices needed for you to move toward an addiction-free, satisfying sense of well being in your life. It both increases your awareness of your internal processes in measurable ways and provides specific methodologies for using information obtained through your conscious/unconscious processes in the manner of one who has “enlightened self-interest.” If internally no new choices or alternatives are generated in you, you will repeat – ad nauseum – choices and behaviors that obviously no longer work in the present,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but which at some point in time, appeared to have produced results.
One of NLP’s contributions to sexual recovery is that it allows you to access and employ your internal resources in order to have a repertoire of feelings and behaviors that you can refer to which can appropriately take the place of compulsive sexuality by fulfilling some of your needs in realistic,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], sustaining ways.
The more entrenched the behavior is, the more likely it is to be connected to early survival skills – the need for protection, nurturing, feeling enlivened yet safe, or the need to explore the world as an individual separate from Mother (the sexual need for novelty and excitement). You can see that, somehow-or-other, things went developmentally array in your childhood and the survival-seeking pleasure of existence was not provided in the way you needed it to be provided.
Identify the behavior to be changed. In other words, what do you want and what stops you from getting there at this time. You may, for instance,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], was to enjoy sexuality as an experience shared with a cherish partner that leaves you feeling enlivened rather than depleted and self-hating. What stops you from getting there? Why, your addiction, of course.
Establish communication with the part of you that generates the behavior. This is the part of you that revels in the experience of intense sexual pleasure and can’t figure out, for the life of you, why you would ever want to stop. You need to understand that the addict part is part of your early survival skills and will only change if presented with additional internal alternatives to the addiction that responds as successfully,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or preferably even better to the original needs.
Separate the original, positive intention of the behavior from the actually manifested addictive behavior. Almost all of the techniques for recovery covered in this book include a process of “dissociating” from the addiction.
Create alternative behaviors to satisfy the intention. Ask yourself: in what other ways might I feel safe, enlivened,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], protected? How might I give vent to my leanings toward mystery, novelty and risk that aren’t sexual? Ask the “wise man” inside you for 3-5 ways of dealing with life other than with the use of sex or pornography.
Check again with your “addict” part to see if he’ll accept at least one of the new choices.
Ecological check. The therapist asks you to check if there are any parts of yourself that appear to object to the preceding negotiations and, if not,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], if you then feels that all of you is willing to support trying new behavior that supports the original intention of the lustful behavior.
The result is that you go to sexual excitement (remember of definition of sex addiction) to get non-sexual, emotional needs met. I suspect that the original positive intent of your behavior was to feel safe, valued,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], recognized,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], wanted and alive. When compared to the “Manifested Behavior” – the addiction with all of its dreaded consequences,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you can clearly see that behavior that had an original positive intent in the past now manifests as behavior that doesn’t satisfy your needs in a real, consistent, self esteeming enhancing way, but rather produces most of the distressing internal and external circumstances of your life.
Addiction,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], in all its forms, is a social epidemic and certainly represents an obstacle to a life well lived. NLP’s methods, skills, and strategies (too numerous and complex to detail in this paper) allow for the construction of a wider and more effective repertoire of
To “reframe” the past means to look at it differently in light of new information and growing maturity. When I was in therapy, I could only bemoan growing up in the chaos of life with two alcoholic parents. I would regale the therapist with tales of the HORROR of it all! At some point in my development, I began to have a series of positive memories about my parents. Although dysfunctional after their illness took over, there were, in fact, many years of togetherness,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], closeness and fun. I have also come to recognize that they were not bad people, just people with a bad disease. Despite it all, they managed to march to the tune of their own drummer in terms of their lifestyle choices and engendered in me enough love of learning to be able to write this book! So…voila! You can change the past, depending on which frame you choose to put on it.
“Reframing” is an NLP stalwart strategy. To “reframe” a stimulus (e.g. sexual urges) means to change the meaning of the stimulus and thus to change the way you behave towards the stimulus.
One of NLP’s precepts is that all behavior makes sense in the context in which it was originated (called “Positive Intent of Behavior versus the Manifested Behavior). Behavior, no matter how bizarre if may appear to be (I think of fetishes), makes sense when it is perceived in the context of the choices generated by the individual’s particular model of himself and the world. Addiction is not a matter of making a wrong choice, but of not having sufficient internal choices – thus you act on old instruction or generally outdated information that has no bearing on the present except that the present contains the trigger that sets the old behavior in motion.
NLP is an approach to doing psychotherapy that was all the rage
in the 70’s and early 80’s. It is a model of the structure of your inner, subjective experience and how that experience influences behavior. It provides a framework for eliciting the way you experience reality with a focus on reorganizing that experience so you, as a human being, can optimally function in work, love and recreation. NLP is designed to elicit information from the subjective (inner) world, to see the limitations these experiences impose on each individual and to direct strategies to the conscious and unconscious processes for the purpose of facilitating change towards a happier, more satisfying life.
As is the case with any major dysfunction or illness, sex addiction, or the process of being a sex addict, erodes your internal repertoire of choices, until life becomes determined by basically one primary factor: access to sex and to the “erotic haze” that accompanies it. Stated in a different way, the acquisition of a sexual “rush” determines your lifestyle and imposes severe limitations on your experience of yourself and your life.
NLP uses a “Six-Step Reframe” to work with a variety of unwanted behaviors, thoughts, feelings and attitudes. I encapsulate for the sake of simplicity.
In summary, the Six-Step Reframe represents some of the most significant models of NLP, the creation and behavioral installment of an internal repertoire of choices to deal effectively with life events, the belief that individuals have all the resources they need to lead satisfying lives, that the therapist’s job is to help the client in accessing thee internal resources and that all behavior, no matter how bizarre,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], makes sense in the context in which it was originated. It further demonstrates that there is a positive connotation in all dysfunctional behavior. This connotation is the pivotal point for turning current negative behavior around by offering an array of choices that responds more appropriately to the original needs. Finally given the opportunity, the human being moves toward well being which can only occur in the context of the continual creation of new internal alternatives and choices.

When work is suspended due to acts of God and employers' liabilities,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], daily workers will now be entitled to their wages,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a high-ranking official of the Ministry of Labor said Sunday. Thus far,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], concerned laws were not sufficient to cover loss of earnings due to the above cases,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but the ministry has worked out new guidelines to protect daily wage laborers and handed them out to 46 regional labor offices throughout the country.
In the case of electrical blackouts and water supply failures,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], previously daily workers' pay was cancelled but they will now be entitled to receive 70% of their pay. For violations of the new guidelines,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the employer will be subject to prison terms up to three years or fines of up to W20 million. The new guidelines are effective immediately.
